As the field of digital technology burgeons, it becomes more important to digitally archive all library sources. There are basically two types of archiving, the live archive and the permanent archive. Permanent archive materials are not available to the user (except on an as needed basis), and periodically must be restored and archived again to ensure the integrity of the media. The International Standards Organization (ISO), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and other standards organization guidelines can be used for media selection, sanitization, security, auditing and other related issues. The live archive material is available to users. However, since there can be no changes made to the documentation, no daily backup is necessary. Archived material will be used in disaster recovery.

Other issues related to archiving the library digital sources such as theft, fire, and virus will be discussed. This paper will provide procedures and guidelines for archiving the library digital sources. We will also discuss backup/restore and disaster recovery procedures.
